So it's kind of a long story, but when my buddy Vijay, who owns and operates Artist Series Guitar, mentioned that his good friend, Ryan Hurst, would be doing a photo shoot for his custom Demon Hunter and Throwdown guitars, I had to make sure I was there. For years now, people have said I look like Opie, a character that Hurst plays in the always-enthralling Sons Of Anarchy TV show. All of us in Demon Hunter have become huge fans of the show over the years, so this was a really cool opportunity. Oh, and my wife made the dope leather vest Hurst is wearing in the shoot. Checking off that bucket list, one day at a time.

Design Bureau Magazine asks us a few questions in their latest issue. Featuring K-Rash like a boss on the cover.
Is it summer yet? Not quite, but with last night's (bitchin') lineup announcement for the 2012 Sasquatch! Festival - we're getting close. The festival poster and identity remains at the top of the IC "Pet Project" heap each year, thanks to our client and friend, Adam Zacks. So if you see a haphazard vegetable oil-fueled modified recliner with scrapped airplane turbines and tree stumps for wheels carrying 'Squatch and his renegade gang of animal misfits - you're on the right road. See it bigger in our work section.
And check out the rad animation by the folks at Wintr.
Extra special thanks to the talented and gracious Mr. Foster for featuring us in his beautiful new book, New Masters Of Poster Design, Volume 2. Available now!
We're honored to be featured in Design For Music by Hans Lijklema and published by The Pepin Press - showcasing a nice little smattering of various music projects throughout the years + a lengthy interview with both of us. Also includes an accompanying disc featuring 'Collapsing' by some band we are affiliated with. Big thanks to Hans for asking us to be part of this.
Well, we've been hard at work for over a year on this next project (and have many more months to go), but we are excited to preview the logo and name of our first interactive children's book The Uproar!, arriving on iPads everywhere via the Apple App store this fall. Lots of fun announcements coming in the first half of 2012, but for now - a quick synopsis:
"Journey into a world of sound and wonder in the interactive musical story The Uproar! Join a bizarre band of misfit monsters to explore a sprawling story from the mind of Invisible Creatureʼs Don Clark."
We are honored and proud to be working with our new favorite publisher + partner: Space Dog Books. Please do yourself a favor and download Space Dog's first chapter book Treasure Island, illustrated by the amazing Matthew Cruickshank.
It's going to be a fun year. Much more soon ...

You may have seen a fairly vague posting regarding this last week, but here's the lowdown: Low & Behold is a new project band that J Martin and I have been working on for a few years now. In a nutshell, it's really stripped-down classic goth/new wave- for those of you that dig on the likes of Depeche Mode, Sisters Of Mercy, etc. The first release, a 12" single titled Blood Red, is available for pre-order now here. The record features the title track, plus a b-side (Violent Sound), packaged in a gatefold sleeve, with a 11" x 11" 2-sided art print. So, yes, $9 is a steal.
Have a Blood Red Halloween.
Thanks to our good friends at the other Creature for including our work together with JanSport in their Communication Arts story this month.
Here's a glimpse at our poster for 2 upcoming Fleet Foxes shows here in Seattle. The concept comes from a song called "The Shrine" (from their latest record, Helplessness Blues) where the lyrics speak of an old dried-up fountain filled with forgotten pennies. In this case, the pennies are actually metallic copper ink. In the store soon!
Late last year we got a call from our favorite lunch spot asking if we'd like to help them out with their first-ever Food/Ideas/Music Festival: Chipotle Cultivate. Chipotle's unrelenting commitment to food with integrity (not to mention their ass-kicking burritos) is something we've always respected (and donated much of our lunch money to). Cultivate is happening at Lincoln Park in Chicago on October 1st. And the best part? It's free.
OK, now I'm hungry.
A few details:
Here's our new poster for Iron & Wine's upcoming show at The Paramount. In the shop September 11th.
Here's our poster for Ben Harper's upcoming show at Marymoor Park on 8/27. In the shop on 8/28.
Here's a look at the poster we recently created for the Chicago date of The Decemberists' current tour. Looks like Chicago has some rough neighborhoods. Available in the store now!
We recently had the luxury of working with Rhymesayers Entertainment once again, this time for Seattle-based artist Grieves. RS is one of the only labels still investing their time, effort and finances into elaborate physical packaging... because they care and they believe their listeners deserve it. And obviously we love any opportunity to work with cool, innovative people to create unique packaging and artwork. Check out this video of the new Grieves package for "Together/Apart," and be sure to pick up the record June 21st.
Awesome. Done by Louie Figueroa at Rube’s Tattoo.
Thanks to Josh for the heads up.
The pink and black attack are back! It's always fun working with Seattle's favorite kid-rockers.
When asked if we'd be interested in creating a poster for the new EMP exhibit 'Nirvana: Taking Punk To The Masses', we had to think about it for about zero seconds. After listening to each record a few times, I decided to base my concept on the song 'Scentless Apprentice', my favorite track from In Utero. Many thanks to Chris, Jacob and the EMP for asking us. Pick one up here (we only have 15 of these suckers) and be sure to check out the exhibit if you find yourself in these parts.
2-color (metallic silver and black) silk-screened poster on white stock.
