We look back to tradition, to an artifact that people have used to rally around triumphs and victories: the felt pennant. Crafted by folks who've helped shape the tradition since the early 1900s, our pennants are hand-printed and hand-sewn in the U.S.A. Collect the pennants, and show some team spirit for the small things in life. - The People's Pennant
These guys are doing some pretty cool things. Not only are they resurrecting the art and craft of the felt pennant (and aiming at a new audience), they are also causing us to fondly remember those days of hitting the ballpark with dad and picking out that perfect pennant to hang alongside our poster of this guy.
Inspired by Grandpa and his life at NASA, our goal with Blast Off! was to capture that fun and youthful spirit for all ages. Thanks to Tim, Jessica and Eric for asking us. And needless to say, we're honored to be featured alongside some pretty talented peeps.
Pre-Order and read about the inspiration for Blast Off! Use the code "Creature" and receive 25% off during the first week! And yes, we definitely had a few of these.
See how it's done below:
We're excited to announce 'Unboxing', a new video series where we open, unpack and showcase the latest products we've worked on. First up: Our Hexapillar Gift Card for Target, another fun project from the creative folks at inHouse. We had loads 'o fun creating Hexapillar and as you can tell, the metamorphosis was successful.
Stay tuned for Episode 2!
We had a blast illustrating the cover and interior spread for Parade Magazine's Road Food issue last Sunday. Big thanks to our A.D. Richard Baker for the fun project.

If you have a son between the ages of 4 and 10, you probably know all about Hexbug. We've had the Nano habitat fired up at our place for awhile, so when our friends at Target asked if we'd like to design our own, my son (and his dad) gave an ecstatic and audible thumbs up. The Hexapillar Gift Card goes from caterpillar to butterfly in seconds flat and comes alive with one flip of the switch. In stores now. See it a tad larger here.
As always, extra big high-fives to our A.D.'s Ted Halbur and David Ledsinger for making this all happen.
We're extremely excited to launch Heartwork 2012. Featuring limited prints by Lab Partners, Jessica Hische, Julia Rothman, Aesthetic Apparatus, Nate Wragg, Gina Triplett, Meg Hunt, Jason Munn & IC. Each edition is extremely limited (only 10 prints available from each artist) so grab they while you can.
We’re honored to be part of this project and thankful for everyone who donated their time and talent.
A little late, but I had a lot of fun making a birth announcement for my new little girl. Screen-printed by D&L on French Muscletone and sent to friends and family.
Seattle and food. Two of our favorite things. We were asked to create 2 covers for Seattle Weekly's annual Voracious issue. The issue highlights their top restaurant picks in the city, organized by neighborhood. Thanks to A.D. Jane Sherman for giving us plenty of creative freedom. Only on newsstands for a week! See it a tad bigger here.
Spring has sprung! Well, maybe not quite yet ... but the 2012 Lawn & Patio seasonal display at Target has. These ginormous faux birch trees were a blast to create -- and definitely worth checking out in person. As usual, this project wouldn't have been possible without the amazing design team at Target, lead by our talented (and hilarious) A.D., Jon Erickson. Oh, and please don't attempt to climb the trees, unless you plan on feeding the squirrels. Typefaces used: Giza and Neutraface.
Goats, phones & fries. The best part about our job is we never know what's coming next. Here's a fun piece we recently finished for the fine folks over at Publicis and T-Mobile. We were asked to create character and BG illustrations for this 15 second spot while the talented peeps at World Famous handled the animation/post. OK, now I'm hungry.

Is it summer yet? Not quite, but with last night's (bitchin') lineup announcement for the 2012 Sasquatch! Festival - we're getting close. The festival poster and identity remains at the top of the IC "Pet Project" heap each year, thanks to our client and friend, Adam Zacks. So if you see a haphazard vegetable oil-fueled modified recliner with scrapped airplane turbines and tree stumps for wheels carrying 'Squatch and his renegade gang of animal misfits - you're on the right road. See it bigger in our work section.
And check out the rad animation by the folks at Wintr.
Extra special thanks to the talented and gracious Mr. Foster for featuring us in his beautiful new book, New Masters Of Poster Design, Volume 2. Available now!
Thanks to Computer Arts for featuring us in their Character Design issue last month.
We got 6 inches of snow yesterday. So naturally Seattle is shut down and I'm chugging coffee while drawing in my slippers. Decided to dust off a few more Grandpa illos in the process. These 5 span approx. 5 decades, with the last one created the same year he passed away.
Looking for a little sun amidst those long, cold and blustery days? We suggest the new 'Winter Getaway Blend' packaging we created for Seattle's Best Coffee and the fine folks at Creature. As obvious fans of all things caffeinated, this was a real treat to work on. Big thanks to Dave Taylor, Kaylin Fitzpatrick and Cara Schwartz at Creature for the fun project. Get a slightly closer look in our portfolio. Only available in SBC Cafe's.
We're honored to be featured in Design For Music by Hans Lijklema and published by The Pepin Press - showcasing a nice little smattering of various music projects throughout the years + a lengthy interview with both of us. Also includes an accompanying disc featuring 'Collapsing' by some band we are affiliated with. Big thanks to Hans for asking us to be part of this.
Happy New Year! We have two new Gift Cards hanging out on various Bullseye end caps throughout the nation. The first one actually features candles that light up and turn off as you blow them out! Pretty cool technology and sure to cure those winter blues. Grab it here.
The second one is for that special teacher in your life. Featuring a cool embossed reflective 'vintage lunchbox metal' type material. Pick one up here.
Always a fun time. Art direction: Rob Weaver, Kelly Gray and Ted Halbur.
Well, we've been hard at work for over a year on this next project (and have many more months to go), but we are excited to preview the logo and name of our first interactive children's book The Uproar!, arriving on iPads everywhere via the Apple App store this fall. Lots of fun announcements coming in the first half of 2012, but for now - a quick synopsis:
"Journey into a world of sound and wonder in the interactive musical story The Uproar! Join a bizarre band of misfit monsters to explore a sprawling story from the mind of Invisible Creatureʼs Don Clark."
We are honored and proud to be working with our new favorite publisher + partner: Space Dog Books. Please do yourself a favor and download Space Dog's first chapter book Treasure Island, illustrated by the amazing Matthew Cruickshank.
It's going to be a fun year. Much more soon ...
Wow, we're 5. Officially out of the toddler bed but still able to pee in the yard. Not bad. It's been an incredible journey thus far ... thanks to our amazing clients and you (of course). To celebrate the holidays as well as our half-decade, we're offering free shipping on all US orders through December as well as a new 5" x 5" mini-print (with any Leroy C. figure purchase) to hang next to the awkward family photo of that one acquaintance from high school that still sends you Christmas cards. You know the one I'm talking about.
Thank you so much. And seriously, we can't wait to see what happens in the next five ...
