Just finished this shirt design for my good friend Will and his killer rock band, American Princes. If you're going to Bonnaroo this year, be sure to check them out!
Spring has hit Seattle (well, a little) so we thought it'd be a good time to update you on what's happening in IC world ... and of course shamelessly plug ourselves all at the same time. We're having a ton of fun at the shop lately, so why not share in the joy a little bit?
The Takeover interview - Short and sweet.
RBTL podcast - This was a lot of fun to do, but maybe I shouldn't have had so much coffee before recording.
IC on Twitter - Sign up! Updated regularly with IC happenings and random pretentious garbage no one needs to know about. Oh, and this may soon take the place of '5 Things We're Digging'. I wish it wasn't so addictive, but it is.
Sasquatch! Festival - It's coming up hot. Thankfully, we have a new set of limited edition screen-printed posters available to help celebrate its arrival. Coming soon.
Coalesce 'OX' - This project was a blast in many ways, but I had no clue the band would want to feature the art on so many stinking cool pieces of merchandise. Icing on the cake. Limited edition (signed) art prints, a flask (with super cool box), quality hoodies and shirts, etc. Take that, Fugazi.
Having fun with new projects from Nike, Target, Wired, Devildriver, August Burns Red, Coalesce, The Not-It's, KEXP, Brother Ali + Rhymesayers, etc. We'll be showcasing these new projects (and much more) on our new website and store towards the end of August. Very excited to be working with the masterminds at Gridplane & Instrument.
There is much more to talk about, but not enough time to do so. Thanks to everyone who has made the IC blog a part of their daily RSS feeds. 6,500 and counting!
Oh, and special thanks to Cale Glendening for the above photo.
Four guys in outdoor clothing- check. Rocks and various debris- check. 2 staggered pine trees- check. Campfire- check. One guy warming his hands, one guy roasting a marshmallow- check. White seamless backdrop- check. Congrats- you've successfully ripped off our Fair artwork! Your Dave Hill photo treatment needs some work though.
Here's our latest piece for Wired's monthly "Burning Question" section - we are honored to become a monthly contributor to one of our favorite magazines. This little piggy (bank) wants to save money on his cable bill for the Can I Use The Recession As A Bargaining Chip story this month.
Check out the cover we recently created for the new Falling Up album, "Fangs!" The illustration is based on the very interesting story told within the lyrics- having something to do with poison threads and foreign planets. Drawn with ink, colored in Photoshop.
The 2009 Sasquatch! lineup was recently announced, so we thought we'd give you a peak at the new artwork as well. This year we decided to go with an unruly gang of 'Squatch Supers - each with their own specific power or trait. Whether or not they fully know how to utilize that power or trait is yet to be known. One thing is for sure, they always mean well.
It's always an honor to work with Adam (as well as Live Nation & Seattle Theatre Group), and we're specifically thrilled to now be the official festival artists each year.
And check out the amazing animation put together by the fine folks at Gridplane.
By popular demand, we've reprinted our Kings Of Leon "Lonely King" poster design, this time with a change of color palette. These are going pretty fast, so get yours now.
We are honored to be working with Target House & St. Jude Children's Hospital on a few events for them this year. This first piece is for an upcoming Valentine's Day bash entitled "Love Is In The Air". This has been an especially touching project to work on - and I can't think of a more important group of people to draw for.
We're just as shocked as you are, but it looks like we've received our 4th Grammy nomination in a row. This time it's for our CD package/board game for Hawk Nelson's latest album 'Hawk Nelson ... Is My Friend'.
We're beyond grateful for the nomination - as well as the years prior. That feeling doesn't seem to get old. Many thanks to Hawk Nelson and Tooth & Nail Records for the opportunity. My wife and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary the very same weekend as the awards, so we're excited to have another reason to dress up.
Oh, if anyone is keeping score out there, Don and Ryan are tied for 2 apiece. I am thinking we may have set some sort of record for brothers in general. Is there a separate award for that? No?
There was a lot of great album artwork this year, but here are 10 that really caught my eye. Enjoy.
Ryan and I were honored to be part of the epic book Beasts! ... and now we're excited to see Beasts! 2, which I am sure will knock our socks off as well. Stay in the loop here.
Oh, and don't forget to check out the cool paperback version of Beasts! coming soon.
The Weretiger (above) is by A.J. Fosik.
Growing up, Ryan and I were Lego FANATICS. I vividly remember the massive room-sized bag of Legos that my mom found at a garage sale for $8 - and the day she brought it home. Our jaws dropped. We dabbled in Transformers, G.I. Joe and He-Man, but the Legos got the most love - for years and years. Naturally, my own kids love them (what kid doesn't?!) and those days in the 80's of creating airplanes and robots out of blocks are ever-present in our house 20+ some years later. I still think it might be the best toy to actually spawn creativity and imagination. All that to say - I just love Jason Freeny's anatomy of the lego man. Brilliant.
And yes, we are going to Legoland next summer. Anyone been?

Here's our poster for Seattle Theatre Group's 'New Year's Eve Extravaganza' featuring The PUSA.
Urban Outfitters is now selling Nate Williams pillows. Sleeping never looked so good.
The October issue of Wired hits newsstands today, featuring an illustration we did for an article titled 'The Fusion Myth'. This particular story (by Josie Glausiusz) is about the book Sun In A Bottle: The Strange History of Fusion and the Science of Wishful Thinking, which deals with the fact that fusion power is still just as likely to happen as any of the scenarios above.
Travis Lampe is one of my favorite illustrators, and it just so happens that he recently released his first toy: Accidental Mishap. His work reminds me of a cross between Heshka, Baseman and Taxali. That, my friends, can only mean greatness.
Mmmmm ... first cupcakes, now this: Fantagraphics just announced their new Flora book, arriving in stores next year. If anyone knows where to find a time machine, let us know.
