Just finished a poster for the upcoming Kings Of Leon shows in Seattle and Portland. After rocking the tar out of their new single, I got inspired to go all-out and illustrate something with a lot of detail. We may never know what majesty our lonely bum-king has found in that tower, but I imagine it's breath-taking.
The House Industries collaborative effort with the Eames Office (2007) is something I just stumbled upon. Does anyone out there own one of these 10 limited solid maple / walnut pieces? Epic.
Well, of course I had to post this (it sounds a bit ludicrous to say), Seattle Weekly has deemed us 'Best Designers / Rockers' in their 'Best Of Seattle' issue. Even though a laundry list of other talented people come to mind, it's a real honor for us. Obviously this town is rich with art and music history (many of our design and music heroes are from the NW), so to grab this kind of attention is a bit overwhelming. We owe a great many things to this city, so thank you very much for the love. Oh, and the bike is as bad-ass as it looks.
Here is our cover for the new Starflyer 59 album "Dial M". Inspired by 1940's propaganda and Dick Tracy, it's safe to say that the Martin brothers are in our top five clients of all time. Their Impeccable taste, astute knowledge of punk rock, ridiculously amazing album and song titles, and just kings of all things cool - it's always a breath of fresh air to work with them. And I'm not biased by saying that this may be one of the best SF59 albums of all time. Available 10/28.
All Known Metal Bands by Dan Nelson is a McSweeney's book featuring the names of over 50,000 metal bands. I saw it on the shelves at Easy Street and had to own it. It was only $17 and even features this band. Not bad at all. Oh, and you'd never guess how many bands are named Nemesis.
Here is the cover and a few of the interior shots we worked on for Tyga's new album 'No Introduction'. All of the ingredients for the project worked perfectly: Client had a great concept, designer had a great stylist and photographer. The post work was lengthy, but it was a blast to put together. Oh, and the album is pretty hot too. Get it.
We just got word that our work with the Foo's will be on exhibit in London, starting in November - and will be curated by It's Nice That. Sounds cool to us. Details to come ...
Just finished work on the package design for new Solid State band, Trenches. The above image is a little teaser for the inside of the booklet. You'll have to buy the record on September 16th to see the full thing. Or, if you're really patient, you can wait for us to post it in our portfolio. However, if you're interested in seeing the album cover produce an optical illusion (for real), you might want to get the actual record. And if you like heavy metal with an atmospheric underbelly, (think Isis, Neurosis) you'd dig this business anyway. Go get it.
Here are two new album covers that we've recently finished for Tooth & Nail bands Jonezetta and The Becoming. The direction given from both bands was "Just type," which for us, is a nice breath of fresh air. I love the ability to simply focus on the type treatment- thanks guys.
Kerf is a custom furniture and cabinet maker that I've been a fan of for years. After seeing one of their amazing kitchens in Sunset last year, it solidified my love for their style that reminds me of a contemporary modern take on those classic Eames storage units. Oh, and they happen to be right down the street too.

These amazing candles from Modern Alchemy feature fragrances like gin, pipe tobacco and wood (that's one candle- called Speak Easy) or antiquated leather bound books (pictured here- called Ex Libris). I'll have to say I'm intrigued.. and the packaging looks pretty stellar as well. Unfortunately they're not for sale through their site, but I did find them at Unica Home.
Freelance Switch. A great site that's chuck full of advice for those of us on our own. Although, they do recommend that I pay off my house. Can someone tell me how to do this in Seattle? Easy, Dave Ramsey. Link via Rob.
